Mobile App: Processing Payments

Processing customer payments is easy and secure within the Sera Mobile App.  This article walks you through where to take payments, which types are accepted and how to manage saved payment methods.

Where Do I Go to Make a Payment?

  1. Navigate to the Invoice screen of a Job with a Work Completed signature
  2. Tap the "Make Payment" button at the bottom of the invoice
  3. Follow the prompts to collect payment using one of the accepted methods

Tip: If you are trying to accept a payment before the work completed signature is obtained, you can use the Payments button from the Job Summary screen at any point after a quote is accepted.

What Types of Payments Are Allowed? SCR-20250622-lido

  • Credit Cards
  • Cash
  • Check
  • Banking (ACH)
  • External - other and financing
  • Saved Payment Methods - previously stored credit card or ACH payments on the customer's account

Using or Adding a Saved Payment Method

  • If a saved payment method is already available on the customer's account, it will be listed when taking a payment
  • To add a new saved payment method:
    • Choose "Save Payment as the Default" during the payment process for Credit Card or Banking (ACH) payment types

Tip: All saved payment data is securely stored and PCI-compliant.

Adding a Note to a Payment

When entering the payment details, you will have the option to add a note.  This could include:

  • payment reference information (e.g. "paid via business card")
  • check information
  • any customer specific context

These notes will be saved to the invoice and visible within the transaction details.

Accepting Partial Payments

You are allowed to accept partial payments towards an invoice balance.  The remaining balance will stay open until fully paid.

  • When entering the payment amount, you can specify any value up to the total balance
  • You can take multiple payments until the invoice is fully paid

Overpayments Are Not Allowed

The app will not allow overpayments.  You can only accept up to the outstanding balance on an invoice.

  • If a customer attempts to pay more than the total, you'll see an error and need to adjust the amount.

Viewing Payment History

To see a history of all payments made on an invoice:

  1. Open the invoice screen
  2. Scroll down to the Transaction Details

Tip: You can also open the Payments button within an appointment after a quote has been accepted to view any payments made to this invoice.
